Summer part 2

What do we do with unlimited free time?  Decide to get another pet?  Okay.... against all my pleading, John wins again.  We got another dog.  She's only about 6 months old but she acts much older.  We nearly passed her by because she is so calm, but that's just her personality.  We decided to name her, Misty.  None of us really liked that name, but we couldn't really agree on anything, haha!  She's a mix of, well, we aren't sure.. I spent many hours looking online to find out what her breeds are.  Still unsure.  We don't know how much bigger she'll get either.  But what we do know is she's some type of Afghan, which means her fur is more like hair and it grows in length and doesn't shed.  We thought having a dog that doesn't shed would be awesome!  But now we are learning that means we have to groom her regularly.  I do human hair, not dog hair!  It's not my thing!  She's been good for our other little girl dog, they play well.  I guess we'll see.

Happy 4th of July!  If you haven't figured it out by now, I love July!  Maybe I love the 4th because I can nerd out in my red, white, and blue, but it also means my birth month!  They also do Pioneer day here which means even more fireworks!  I got this dress super cheap and there's probably good reason why, haha!  But when I walked out in this, my littlest goes, "ooOOoo!"  It was hilarious!  We didn't do a lot of celebrating but we did meet up with some friends at the park to watch the fireworks.  Before that we went to Sonic to get ice cream.  It was a good day, and look at those tan lines, haha!

Silly family selfies!!

Kids will sleep anywhere!

Best brothers!

Time to celebrate!  I made myself delicious sugar cookies because cake is good...but sugar cookies are better!  I can never turn down a frosted sugar cookie.  Although, I don't like the ones you see in the picture with the candles.  Those are too powdery and I gotta have soft with a little crunch.  It was sweet of my husband to surprise me with them.. but the kids are the ones who ended up enjoying them!  Also, my shirt says 1984-the year I was born!  I thought that would be fun to wear, you know I'm all about dressing for the occasion!  The breakfast food and green toe nails were just some other ways I spoiled myself.  We didn't leave the house all day and that was just fine.  We had fun!  The kids and I danced, watched shows, played games, made and decorated yummies, and beat-boxed too!  John came home a bit early and brought me flowers and a silly light-up crown.  He gets me.

A few more fun things.  Bruce LOVES this tank that has two ice cubes and says, Chillin' with Mom. The weather has been so nice that we sit outside and play music.  John on the guitar and the kids on pots and pans.  EZ also discovered his muscles are stronger and he's more agile!  He scales up the hallway.  I remember my brothers doing that when we were kids too.  I love it!

Okay so the first of our peaches off our tree are ready to rock and roll!  We made our super easy peach cobbler and as always, its delicious!  Also, the boys like to dress up but Bruce's outfit this time deserved a picture, or two.  Gekko mask, Superman cape, Batman slippers, no shirt and Mexico shorts!  I mean, who wouldn't love that??

John's birthday!  It's August now and not only did we make another peach cobbler, (or two, or three) we also had a St. Louis treat, Gooey Butter Cake.  It's one of the sweetest desserts there is and it's SOOO good!  If you know John, you know he likes to get creative in the kitchen.  He gets an idea of what to make and looks up a bunch of recipes, decides on the best one, alters it if need be, but ultimately it becomes a new spoiled favorite.  This time, homemade pasta.  We loved it so much so that I got him a pasta maker for his birthday.  It's a big time-saver and totally worth it!  Funny side note, the Marvel shirt he is wearing was actually a birthday present to me from my parents.  Fits him better, thank goodness!  Okay last picture- some sweet neighbors decided they had too much patio furniture so they gave us a set.  They were just a simple, light colored natural wood looking set.  We sanded them and painted them.  We used paint my parents already had lying around then he went out and bought some of the cheapest cushions he could find.  Little did we know, those colors matched perfectly with some outdoor tables my parents already had!  Nice coincidence there!  We wished we had a more inviting front area and now we do!  So come on by and enjoy the sunset with us, they can be quite spectacular here!
