The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Christmas was great this year! I took a week off work for relaxation, vacation, and Christmas celebration! It's tradition on the Lewis side of the family to do what they call Grandpa Claus. They read and sing the Nativity and then follow up with presents for everyone! Usually something small and simple because there are so many of us! This year everyone got homemade hats, which were really cute!

Next, John and I traveled to Las Vegas to spend a few days of just us time for our 2 year anniversary. We stayed at a 4 star hotel south of the strip called, South Point. The highlight was their fabulous Spa where we enjoyed a private jacuzzi/steam/sauna room that also included endless amounts of fruits and water. We had great sweedish massages too! I'd love to do a spa every week if I could. John said after wards that this is why rich people are so happy!Besides the spa we saw the movie Avatar in 3-D, which we very much enjoyed! We also saw Surrogates, which we thought was ok. The last final thing to do on the list was eat a really nice buffet. So, with a great recommendation, we had dinner at the Mirage. It was indeed very satisfying! But after 2 fun days of alone time and relaxation, it was time to spend the joyous holiday with my family.

My brother, Aaron lives in Las Vegas along with his wife, Janet and their 4 boys Ben, Luke, Zack, and the newest member, Simon. Baby Simon is about 6 weeks old and really really cute! I'm so glad I finally got to meet him and hold him! My parents also came and so did my sister, Cody and her husband, Jake. I love hanging out with my family, we don't get to do it often enough! The time together always seems too short. Before you knew it we were back in Utah and back to work. We had some great times and here are some photos of our fun

New Moon

So last year I posted about seeing the movie, Twilight. It seems only fair to post about the second part of the story, New Moon. All I'm going to say is if you read the book and are a fan, then you should have liked it. If you know nothing about it, then don't complain about it. Anyway, yeah I bought my ticket 2 months in advance and saw it opening day. I love reserved seating by the way! Here's some pics to gawk at

AND BY THE WAY, ECLIPSE, THE THIRD PART OF THE STORY IS DUE IN THEATERS JUNE 30, 2010!

hello yellow

So on November 7th I, along with my sister Cody, and her husband Jake, painted some walls in my house. Now, I didn't remember to take before or during pictures so all you get is after pictures. (about a year ago I took pictures so you can date back and check out how things used to look if you are that curious) Anyway, our house was just too dark before. John and I liked the green so we didn't want to get rid of it all.. and we wanted to brighten up the room. So, here's what it looks like now:

We also hung some coat hooks and we love it! It keeps our front room looking neater/cleaner!

New Shows

Well last year I posted about some of my favorite TV shows to watch. Well, I've got a few more to add that I think people should check out! The first is The Vampire Diaries. Now, I know vampires are the huge fad right now but I wouldn't say I'm obsessed... just captivated... or maybe intrigued. I became a fan of Twilight right off the bat, so I started watching this show from a recommendation from a friend. Thank you Amber! I really like it, maybe more than Twilight... I guess I have a new set of books to read! Plus everyone on the show is ridiculously good looking, which doesn't hurt ;)

The next is Community. John and I got into this show because it airs about the same time as The Office, which we never miss. So, we checked it out and its great. Probably the funniest show I watch, besides The Office.

So, if this interests anyone, check it out! I'd love to discuss it with you! The CW and NBC should totally pay me for advertising huh? HA HA

I love Halloween!

So I decided this year to dress up Addams Family style. John and I thought about going as Gomez and Morticia but we just didn't find any good costumes in time. So, I went as Wednesday instead. She was a little easier for me. I think it turned out pretty well. See for yourself! ..probably should have taken my apron off... oh well

This is me and the girls at work today, it was a fun day!

We also had a pumpkin contest at work and this was my pumpkin. I went with Jack Skellington. We had clients vote on their favorite pumpkin and I was in the lead all month until the very last day. A bumblebee pumpkin beat me...with just 2 more votes than me! I was ok with it though, I wanted second place! Anyway, here is my cool pumpkin, all done by free hand, no stickers or whatever. Yeah, I'm awesome!

Katy's Wedding

This last weekend I was in Colorado for my best friend, Katy's wedding. We stayed at a really nice hotel called The Brown Palace. It's right in Denver. The wedding/reception experience was really.. different from Utah's traditional ways.. but it was a lot of fun! We did a lot of things like have a tea party, enjoy a fancy old spaghetti factory dinner, hung out at the hotel bar, got emotional during the ceremony, danced and ate delicious food at the reception, froze to death and also got hardly any sleep! It was great! I'm so happy for my friend and I'm so happy that I was able to go! Here are some captured moments. Enjoy!

Labor Day Weekend Birthday Bash

What a great weekend it was. I got to travel with my husband (and cousin Lisa and her little girl Sophie) to ARIZONA! We went to visit my parents and party it up for my dad's 60th birthday. It was a blast! We did so much and had a wonderful visit.

Everybody came. I got to finally meet my one and only niece, Landon. She is a babe! Also got to see my newest nephew, Sebastian again. He is adorable! Plus I got to see all my brothers, sisters, and their spouses and kids. I also got to catch up with some old friends!

My parents live in Taylor...which is where I spent my freshman and sophomore year of high school. It was...an interesting time in my life. My husband is very surprised I ever lived there. Taylor is a very tiny town. BUT, the Shumways know how to throw an awesome party anywhere! So, here are some photos of our time there.

Meet our new editions...

Well, John and I have been thinking for a while now about getting a pet. I love dogs and John likes just about anything. So, we looked a lot on craigs list and ksl. There were a few good ones but nothing seemed right. We then started looking for cats.. now, I'm not a huge fan of cats. They're cute and some are playful but I'm totally a dog lover. Well, through a friend, we found some cats. We went over today to see them and well, now they are ours. AH! I can't believe we just got not only 1 cat but 2! They are brothers and we just couldn't separate them. The lady who gave them to us was so happy we were taking them both. And she was glad we didn't have little boys who might blow them up for Halloween... anyway, here they are!

Birthday Surprises

Ok, so you all know I had a great birthday and I was completely fine with it. Well, little did I know it was far from over. Last night I had a surprise birthday party all planned by my amazing husband. Here's how it went down. Before I went to work, John told me he had a friend from out of town visiting and that they were gonna hang out and go to dinner when we were both off work. John was working til 7:30 and I was working til 8. Well at 7 he calls saying he got off a little early and that they were going to go to NickelCade first because his friend's 2 year old wanted to play games before dinner. I probably only thought for a second that, oh he's got a wife and kid? Well, I got out of work a little late and arrived at nickelcade about 8:30. I spot John right away and he seems eager to see me and have me meet his friend. I got in and we start walking to the back of the arcade and John grabs my hand and starts booking it. I was so caught off guard and in no control that I feared falling flat on my face or bashing into one of the kiddie rides. By the time we stop running I practically yell at John, WHY DID YOU DO THAT??? Then he spins me around and everyone yells, SURPRISE! I went from total anger to total shock and didn't know how to react so the tears started coming. I wasn't sad or anything, I was shocked! Of coarse people were laughing and it was all a lot of fun. We had about 15 people show up. Some stayed and played games, others came and went. Ah, my husband did good. I'm a pretty easy person to surprise though. I never suspect a thing and I'll believe any lie you tell me. John had no friend from out of town and he didn't work that day at all. He really was so cute to put this all together. I love him so much! Anyway, kinda a long story but here's a funny video. Just remember, I was having so many emotions going off that I'm a little scatter brained. Also, wiping away many happy tears.

Birthday Girl

So yesterday was my 25th birthday. WOO! It was actually a great day! I decided to work because my husband, John had to work too. We planned to celebrate on Thursday, today, our day off! So far we are being lazy and its fabulous! Back to yesterday, I got to work and the girls had decorated my station with balloons and also left me sugar cookies (they now me so well). It was a nice surprise and almost all my clients were nice to me (tipped good!) and almost all of them had a friend who's birthday was also my birthday. Weird! Well one teenage boy that I cut asked me what I would be doing later and I told him I was planning on bowling and a movie with my sister. I told him how I have only ever gotten one turkey (which is 3 strikes in a row for anyone who doesn't know that) ever in bowling and I was hoping to get another that night. He told me I would get another one that night. He was sure of it! Well after work John and I went and got lunch at Kneaders. It was delicious. After that he went to work and I went bowling with some friends...and believe it or not, I did score a turkey! That kid was right! Here is the proof:

although I couldn't seem to manage a non-blurry photo... oh well. Anyway, after bowling my sister and her husband took me out to dinner at Red Robin. Now, I've eaten there ever since I've known John and one night they had a delicious fettucine alfredo on the menu. Every time since that one time like 2 years ago I haven't seen it on the menu. BUT it happened to be there last night, on my birthday! I was a lucky girl!!

After dinner we went and saw, The Proposal. Everyone at work told me it was hilarious, and I suppose it was. It was a good day and I'm very glad I had so much luck! I hear 25 is a good age so bring it on!

time to get in shape

Back in December John and I decided to get each other gym passes for Christmas. I don't know why marriage makes you gain weight but it does. Well we never got any. We weren't really impressed with any gym around. John just likes to run and I just like elliptical machines. So, after months of waited anticipation we got a great machine at an even better price! Here's what it looks like, (folded up too)

We've had it about 2 weeks and I've been using it a lot! I love it!

Some days just make me smile

I don't usually come across every day things and think, hey I should blog about that. Probably cause my life can be very boring, or rather routine to me. However, there are instances and here are a couple..

#1 I was driving and I can't remember where it was exactly but I slowed down when approaching a stop sign and noticed some writing underneath the word stop. All together it said, STOP eating animals. I thought that was really funny for some reason. It's a very bold statement. I don't know...

#2 John and I went to Dairy Queen yesterday! The funny part was that the guy who helped us had a neat tattoo on his neck that read, Consuelo. That is funny because (if you don't know already) that is my middle name. Yes, my parents named me Jade Consuelo... Turned out it is his mothers name. Now THAT doesn't happen every day!

Also, we just bought a huge 42 inch flat screen plasma TV!!!

I'm still innocent, I promise!

The other day my husband and I went out to lunch with his family at an Olive Garden. It was mostly just the adults who went (the ones that live here anyway). We were celebrating MaryAnn's birthday. (John's 4th oldest sibling) We had a great time eating great food! Now, I'm the type of person who likes to order fancy and/or fruity drinks! Smoothies, Lemonades, Italian Sodas, anything other than boring water or boring regular soda. Well, without really reading the description of this one particular peach smoothie thing, I ordered it! (You may have noticed from a previous post that I can be a very naive person...) So, it arrives and looks really tasty! I put the straw down in anticipating the deliciousness. Well, one sip and zing! Hmm.. that has a different taste. Fearing what that could mean, I quickly force my husband to try it to tell me I'm crazy and that it really doesn't have any alcohol in it. Honestly I have never ever in my life had alcohol. (other than nyquil) I'm a member of the LDS church and was raised knowing alcohol is addictive and dangerous so stay away! Meanwhile, my throat feels like its slightly burning.. Well, he noticed the difference and pulled out the menu to read it more carefully. Whoops! I made a mistake. I felt really guilty about it too. Usually when I order a drink like that they ask if I want it virgin or not. Since they didn't this time, I assumed the most correct way for things to happen, again believing nothing of it. I feel like I haven't broken my clean record, since it wasn't deliberate...
Well, there you have it. Sorry Mom! It was an accident...even though all accidents could have been prevented right? Well those of you who are reading this who drink alcohol like its no big thang, you probably think I'm crazy. And you are probably a little bit right! It's a good think I don't drink cause I think I'd be a drunk! I just love those fun drinks and hey, it tasted good!! But...I think I'd rather just have a lot of sugar!

Ice Ice Baby and Hammer Time

I had the greatest pleasure of going to a one time only concert featuring Vanilla Ice and M.C. Hammer. Yep, that's right. They came to Orem, Utah and no where else. It was this last friday night and I partied like it was the late 80's early 90's! (I'm paying for it today too...all that dancin' makes this old girl sore!) I as well as my posse that I went with dressed up. Let me tell you, LOTS of people there dressed up and it was awesome! Enjoy the show!

Jessica, Lindsay, Jade, Emilee, Melanie, and Sara

What a memorable night!

I had almost a tender moment during all that rock of feeling grateful for the totally awesome generation I grew up in.
