Birthday boys

As long as we can get away with it, these boys will always have a birthday party together.  They are 2 days apart so why do it any other way?  We had their first real party with friends and cake and decorations galore.  We played pin the nose on Rudolph, (I hand drew this pic of Rudolf based off an ornament I have).  John wrote a bunch of actions on small strips of paper then stuck them inside balloons.  The kids had to race to pop the balloon then do the action inside.  Cute right?  Well after the first balloon popped, Bruce started screaming and ran out of the room.  I had to chase him down and wait until that game ended before taking him back to the party.  He was fine, just a little freaked out by the loud popping sound. Then we had ice cream cake, with Mario and Luigi in racing cars on top.. sorry I didn't get a picture.. I thought I had.  OH well!  The kids weren't all that interested in the ice cream cake.. go figure?  Then they opened presents.  I started feeling bad about the whole idea of inviting people to a birthday party.. I mean, isn't it a little self-centered to ask your friends to get you a birthday gift?  Especially with celebrating both my boys, it was double gift duty!  I don't know, I guess I was just surprised at what great gifts the boys got!  It was humbling.  We have awesome neighbors.  EZ's favorite was a gift from him "Uncle," a fingerling dinosaur toy.  It makes all sorts of sounds and turns its head and blinks its eyes, oh and its tail can spin too.  He wore the batteries out in about 4 days.  (EZ had a friend's birthday party that he went to earlier in the day so it was a really fun day for him!)

On his actual birthday!  My sweet 6 year old.  The first thing he said when he woke up was, "Mom, do I look bigger?"  It is hard to believe some days that he's 6 now!  He is so big!  He got to celebrate at school, a little.  He wore a crown and I came in at the end of the day with candy canes to pass out to the other kids in his class.

Per EZ's birthday request, he wanted to go out to a pizza place that his teacher's husband runs.  It also has movies for rent...VHS movies though?  It got me laughing and of coarse had to document.  I knew this town was small, and perhaps behind on some modern day things but who rents these?  How long has it been since movies were even made on VHS?  I just couldn't believe this was available.  I guess they figure if they can make a dime off of it, it's probably better then throwing it away??

Bruce's actual birth day.  Happy 3 years little dude!  He is so difficult to photograph.  He never makes the same face and it's always very exaggerated!  I do kind of love this about him though... just don't let him know!

We waited until Bruce's birthday for them to open their presents from Mom and Dad.  Mostly dollar store type stuff, but some cool stuff too.  Love these boys!!

Going to church!  It's not too far from our house so sometimes we let the kids ride up front with us.  Bruce was having a great time pretending to drive.  EZ wrote 'i luv you" on this flier while we sat in church.  So cute!  I didn't want to toss it before getting a picture first.

Well I know I am very behind... I'm documenting December when it's nearly summer time.  But I am still doing it so that is something!  Hopefully I'll be back sooner than later.  Thanks for the memories!
